How to Start Your Week With a Simple Journaling Reset

A new week doesn't have to mean a fresh list of goals, a packed schedule, or trying to become your most productive self.

Sometimes, a better way to begin is to simply pause, check in with yourself, and put a few thoughts on paper.

Grab your favorite journal and pen, give yourself 10 quiet minutes, and try these five prompts.

1. How Am I Feeling?

Before thinking about what you need to accomplish, check in with yourself.

Are you feeling energized, tired, excited, overwhelmed, or somewhere in between?

This week, I'm feeling:

2. How Do I Want to Feel?

Choose one word or feeling you'd like to carry with you through the week.

Forget the giant to-do list for a moment.

What's one realistic thing that would make you feel good about the week?

It could be finishing a book, organizing a space, trying a new recipe, or making time for something you've been putting off.

One thing I'd like to accomplish:

4. What Am I Looking Forward To?

Give yourself something to anticipate.

It could be dinner with a friend, your favorite coffee, a creative afternoon, a quiet evening with a book, or simply having some time to yourself.

Something I'm looking forward to:

5. What Do I Need to Get Out of My Head?

Take a moment to clear some mental clutter.

Write down anything you're worried about, need to remember, want to do, or don't want to forget.

Don't organize it. Don't make it pretty. Just get it onto the page.

Things on my mind:

Save these prompts and come back to them whenever you need a fresh start.
